that menu is hard coded, not much you can do with it but add / remove items...


your only option is to make dialogs that look the same =P
and that will take you.... FOREVER

Whoever said that 56b cant exactly replicate 51a.. Is out of their head crazy or doesn't have the scripting capability.. 56b can me molded to act just as a 51a server would.. Even the newer clients like 7 series run lag free as client 1.26.4b would on a 51a server. All I'm trying to say is give it a shot for those of you who are saying things are different yes they are different if you just download community scp files or base sphere server files.. You have to script it...

Major things that people want out of the 51a server...

Combat
PvP
Client 1.26.4b

All of these can act exactly the same on sphere56b..

The craft menus are the hard one. The newer versions aren't hard-coded either but you can still write the gump to make it work. Honestly I always hated the old menu, even way back in the day, too hard to navigate. The new ones are ugly but they are easier to use. As for the stats, the existence of the internet and wikis eventually changed my mind on that one. I'd rather like them have the info in game than indirectly reward players for looking stuff up out of game.

It's also worth noting you don't have to use tooltips the same way EA did. I tied my system heavily to Item ID, randomly found stuff doesn't just instantly tell you what it does.

If crafting menus are a huge deal breaker for you then start developing your 56b server and gradually work on the old style 51a menus or gradually create your own. Crafting Menus are only crafting menus which isn't something you have to fix asap anyway Wink You could also create some type of museum in-game that shows item recipes or a tower of tubs to show hue colors. You could script npcs that when a player speaks gives item recipe information like a Blacksmith when a player talks to him and says Mining "ORE" he says in my day yee must have had at least 60.0 mining to yield such a mineral from the earth. etc etc

First off. You want combat of 51a? Obviously you don't have a stable build of 51a since even us dev's have no access to it. Why not script it for 56b? I did it a long time ago as I posted before. It is not hard.

Second off. Craft menu's are easily scriptable. Pretty or not.

Third off. I am going to say this for the last time. Get with the times. You guys are hand building an old server that you don't have the original code for to compile it and not waste 1 - 4 years into redesigning it. Why not just script 56b to do everything you want? Turn off all expansion options. Set the combat flags... it is all there. Everything to make a 51a server to a EA Clone or a super custom server where Final Fantasy collides with Dungeons and Dragons and gets spanked by Dark Age of Camelot who is World of Warcrafts hooker. It is all possible.

I think you would spend less time scripting 56b to be a 51a clone than it would be to hand build a 51a server from scratch all over again.

Again, I admire your drive to rebuild the relic. Just the new advanced server rocks the relic and can emulate that relic.

Im one of these who are trying to replicate 51a on a 55c server...I love the challenge to replicate 51a pvp on a 55c and be able to use all new maps, creatures and features from new clients and 55c. I have replicated a lot of features but i'm having some troubles now, I don't how to start to make rocks lose LOS when casting spells or brambles or saplings to not be able to pass through it in newer clients (maybe patching it?). Other feature that I hate is Opendoor isn't working like 51a, i think that that macro in 55c uses DCLICK and in 51a wasn't. The character stays opening door when in 51a you could ran and open doors meanwhile without stopping. Any tips ?
