RE: Foreign Languages
So I don't agree with multi-language support. First off the majority of the percentages given are English speaking as primary. Most of the others are not as high in percentage in use as that primary. Second off, most of those in other countries speak English as a secondary language and almost fluently. At least fluent enough to get a point across and to understand an English speaking user.

Now lets get onto the logistics of all of this. If we add in multi-language forums; we are going to see a huge spike in activity, but most primary English speaking users won't be able to help them at all. Not due to ignorance, but due to the lack of multi-language education in the countries. It is very limited in the United States and moreso limited to Spanish and French. Mainly, Spanish. Which we all see how far that goes with people here.

I would assume to rather have someone struggle and ask me a question than to have them ask someone who won't be able to help them. I don't know. I think if it came down to needing an interpretor(spelling?); there is always babelfish! Big Grin
For those advertising the Italian forums... your last discussion was in 2010. Those forums are abandoned and dead it seems. We are the only active forum dedicated to Sphere.
@Gyros: You all do have a huge UO following, but the Turkey base is a bit secluded from the rest of us and very isolated. I remember Jeem sending me a link to a couple forums where everyone was excited about me working on High Seas. Issue is, I never finished it. No one showed here that they wanted it. If people had shown interest; I might have finished it and released it a year ago. No one cared. No one from Turkey came on here to express interest. This is my point. Everyone is segregated and at times, I won't lie, I sometimes worry Sphere might die and it discourages me to even be around....

We need a unifed community. Diverse or not. People need to come to one focal point. One hub. We all need to communicate.
As such. I know almost every user speaks English. Broken or not. So why struggle with forums with no developers or veteran scripters around; when you can come here.

RE: Foreign Languages
Ok, lets do this easier for everyone creating a poll. Majority wins, period.
Ben can include the translator for that section just in case we add it. I assume that some of the hidden people around do not speak english at all, so they deserve an space also. This paranoia about a fragmented community is ridiculous IMO.

RE: Foreign Languages
even if i'm italian and sometimes (rarely) is hard to follow a post, i think is better to NOT split community with thousand of sub-forums. I would rather prefer all in english, and that is all ^^

RE: Foreign Languages
Poll wont help. The statistics shown what was needed to know. Majority is English speaking and the minority is English subspeaking. Ben already said he won't include a translator. The poll means nothing.
Funny. 80% no. I promise this, if the boards became mostly in other languages I wont be going to babelfish to translate every issue. So unless staff who can translate will be around this is redundant. As I said and other said... this is going to split the already split community. If not further.
I remember very little Spanish and I don't know any other languages. Can any staff member speak Turkish? No. Our only liason would be Cem (Jeem). Who is not even around enough to help. Valios, you and ShiryuX can speak Portugeuse and Spanish... I can speak some Spanish. We have no german staff members now that Naz isn't active and Torfo isn't active. We don't have any Italian staff. I don't see how this would work with 4 - 5 languages being used. At least I understand broken English for the most part.
