RE: Chapter 1: Installing sphere server with vServerLauncher
After loading the server I get this error in logs when trying to login
17:05:4:Client connected [Total:1] ('5.73.251.179' 1/1)
17:05:ERROR:4:Bad Login 11 (Encryption error (unknown encryption or bad login packet))
17:05:4:Client disconnected [Total:0] ('5.73.251.179')

Any ideas why?

check your spherecrypt.ini for encryption keys, maybe your clients enc. keys is missing.

I worked past that error by using razor and correctly pathing the port and i.p. although now after I choose my server I get stuck at connecting momentarily and then the program stops responding. So many problems... Ehh

find following function in sphere_serv.triggers.scp and add the line with servip and restart the server

[function f_onserver_start]
serv.servip your_ip_here

or just write servip your_ip on sphere console.

RE: Chapter 1: Installing sphere server with vServerLauncher
The tool actually do all of that for you when you press the Finish button. The problem may be related with the client he is using and his configuration to allow that client to connect the server. In your server IP use your localhost wich is 127.0.0.1, then take a look to the version of your client and check if that version is listed in your SphereCrypt.ini. If you can see it there but you can't still login it's probably because that client is unencrypted and you need to allow login from unencrypted clients in your Sphere.ini -- > Client Management -- > UseCrypt/UseNoCrypt. If you have a newer client and your sphereCrypt.ini doesn't have the keys up-to-date, open your vCrypter and type the client version and you will get the line that you have to copy/paste into the file. Save, restart the server and you're done.

You don't need razor to get your server running, this is not RunUO or UOX3, we support client encryption...

I used VServerLauncher to initially install Sphere a few weeks ago. If I use it again to update to the new nightly build, do I need to delete the old files, or will it simply copy over them?

RE: Chapter 1: Installing sphere server with vServerLauncher
I just used the installer, and had two issues.
First, I get the JIT message too, second the text color makes it almost impossible to read anything...

I've never used the installer so I can't speak for it.
However it's not difficult to set up sphere without it, you can follow this tutorial here: TUTORIAL-SphereServer-Setup

Also if you are having issues still please feel free to click the IRC Chat link at the top of the page, there's usually someone on there that can help you on the spot, and I am often in there. It just may take a few minutes to get someone's attention. Wink

RE: Chapter 1: Installing sphere server with vServerLauncher
I should have clarified, the installer worked fine, apart from those two issues, and I have Sphere installed!

I just wanted to point out that the unpacker caused the JIT problem, so I manually unpacked the files as per the text file, and it took a while to read the text, having to tilt my laptop screen all the way back.

My wife said it looked like I was trying to look behind the pixels on the screen Tongue
