Getting My Server Up And Running! - UltimaAku - 02-13-2013 09:19 PM

Hi There all, im very new to hosting my own servers (on any game for that matter) and with Ultima Online being one of my old faves, i thought id give it a go.

I've been working on my server for a while now in terms of scrpiting, but I can only get my server to open locally. Now im really in need of some help.

My server is under the IP adress of impsal.no-ip.info which has been configured from a port 80 redirect from my online IP to port 2593.

on sphere.ini, it is shown like this:

[SERVERS]
Click Link Below
127.0.0.1
2593

Imp. Salvation
impsal.no-ip.info
2593

and above like this:

[SPHERE]
// Name of your Sphere shard
ServName=Click Link Below
// The IP of your server, this will be 127.0.0.1 almost always
ServIP=127.0.0.1
// The port of your server, this is 2593 by default
ServPort=2593

Attatched under "router set-up 1" is my port forwarding set-up. and under "router set-up 2" is my firewall settings. My computer firewall setting are identical (using McAffe).

After having all that set-up I launch the razer programme using the impsal.no-ip.info and port 2593 details and it doesn't even pass the "connecting" stage after attempting to log-in.

So im really stuck. Not sure at all what to do. Any Suggestions?

RE: Getting My Server Up And Running! - Ultima One - 02-14-2013 04:41 AM

Whats the sphere setting for encrypted clients?

Also, I think you can remove these three lines:
Click Link Below
127.0.0.1
2593

also, what happens if you change the no-ip.info line to read: 8.23.224.90

RE: Getting My Server Up And Running! - UltimaAku - 02-14-2013 07:09 AM

RE: Getting My Server Up And Running! - Ultima One - 02-14-2013 09:01 AM

There is a setting in your INI like this:

// Set this to 0 to allow login to encrypted clients
UseCrypt=1

// Set this to 1 to allow login to unencrypted clients
UseNoCrypt=0

Although, if it was those, I think that you'd get a message in your console.

Is the no-ip definitely pointing to your pc? and is port forwarding definitely working?

RE: Getting My Server Up And Running! - Mordaunt - 02-14-2013 09:55 AM

Try putting your dynamic ip thing in sphere_serv_triggers.scp here:

Code:
// This function is called on server startup
[FUNCTION f_onserver_start]
serv.servip=my.ip.goes.here

and make the service is pointing at your computer, the router looks to be set up correctly.
You don't have a software firewall on your computer blocking it do you?

Did you check the forwarding with this: http://www.canyouseeme.org/ ?

RE: Getting My Server Up And Running! - UltimaAku - 02-14-2013 10:41 AM

when i first had problems, the port wasnt opening due to a firewall, but ive resolved it and forwarded my port on both the firewall on teCPU through mcaffe and on my router.

i have both use crypt and use no crypt at 1.

i checked my port forwarding and it said port 2593 is open.

how can i check if the no-ip is pointing at my pc, tbh thats the only thing which i had no knowlage of at all! (using no-ip that is)

Success: I can see your service on 94.4.128.115 on port (2593)
Your ISP is not blocking port 2593

So the port is open, then tried adding this to serv_triggers

[FUNCTION f_onserver_start]
serv.servip=impsal.no-ip.info

Still nothing... BUT This did happen when i checked if my port was open

[attachment=140]

that suggests it might be a client problem, could i be right? or could it still be my cpu for some reason?

RE: Getting My Server Up And Running! - Mordaunt - 02-14-2013 11:32 AM

Ok, looks like the forwarder is working correctly now....

Code:
// Set this to 0 to allow login to encrypted clients
UseCrypt=1

// Set this to 1 to allow login to unencrypted clients
UseNoCrypt=0
Notice what it says in sphere.ini? I have for a long time wondered if this is a typo or not but whatever try setting UseCrypt to 0 and UseNoCrypt to 1.
If that is correct that will allow any client encrypted or otherwise to log in.
Mine have always both been set to 1 though I always log into my server with razor so i can run multiple instances to test things.

RE: Getting My Server Up And Running! - UltimaAku - 02-14-2013 11:50 AM

ok so now looks like this:

// Set this to 0 to allow login to encrypted clients
UseCrypt=0

// Set this to 1 to allow login to unencrypted clients
UseNoCrypt=1

attempted login... still nothing. its not even getting to sphere. the only time any text has gone through to sphere is when i did a port test.

RE: Getting My Server Up And Running! - Soulless - 02-14-2013 11:51 AM
