i am glad that finally people start to realize things. sphereserver is not monopoly of inactive devs, people actually USE it on their live shards. you are totally responsible for them because you signed some papers to prove it. "i got the source, i have a life afk gg no rmk bye" is not an answer. if you are inactive, do not occupy the slots. it is that simple. your personal hate on people, egos, inactivity kill sphereserver and also live shards.

I'm out, see you all in the new year..

Well have good new year ben n keep up the good work Smile

@every one else

i dont think they really care they come in and expect this to be talked private between the staff.... common we are supposed to be a community here... all we ask for is that the devs put in the little more time??

i know they got IRL and its more important but whats a few mins to post on the forums get in the with community or got a spare few hours fix a bug or some thing...

Well this probably go ignored or get slagged off for only coming on here few times and not active on here like said b4 but just remember some of us are more active than the MIA Devs....

The reality here is the Sphere Dev team is fractured, and regardless of how they feel they're not here, and not supporting the project hardly at all.

Sphere needs a complete reboot, we need a new community manager, and new dev team structuring. I'm not questioning the competence of any of the current team members, but I am questioning the dedications. Ben is great, he does good work, and he's still around. There may be some other devs doing some stuff behind the scenes I'm not seeing, but I'd guess not.

This site is also really poorly taken care of. I'm probably one of the major 'Sphere' supporters, and I want sphere to succeed. But all I see is non-action everywhere I look. It seems no one who has the power to market Sphere seem to give more than 2 shits of a damn. That is the problem, and that's why people are upset.

As I've hinted in the past, I will just be blunt, this is what needs to happen:
1. This site needs a complete, total, ground up overhaul.
2. Half the dev team needs to be let go, they're just collecting dust.
3. We need a new person to head this website who is dedicated to Sphere, has the maturity and professionalism to represent sphere, and of course, has the skills to manage a website. I'm sorry, but this is my biggest issue. We need more than just a "head moderator" we need someone in charge of the entire damned website, who is *not* a developer.
4. I think Ben should be promoted to Lead Developer, since he seems to care more than anyone.

I've ran plenty of communities in the past, and I can tell when a ship is sinking and I can also tell when it can be saved. This is one of those times we can save it! We're right on the edge, and someone needs to do something drastic, and stop p***y footing around.

/rant off.

I'm sorry if I'm being offensive, but I'm sick of people tap dancing around the problems. I know how to fix it, but it's up to you guys to actually do it.

Truly Ben is a big machine around here and he deserves all the compliments and even more from all of us. I just want you all to be fair and grateful with the work and effort others have put in the past and not to underestimate what they have done just because of inactivity times or because they are not here anymore.

@Rayvolution
- A new dev team structuring, that is posible
- A webmaster who is not a dev, that is NOT possible
- A total overhaul for this site, possible but do not expect that to happen in this month
- The lead developer will probably always be someone that is not present in here anymore.
- A curious fact for everyone: sphereserver.net has been redirected to menasoft.com

The webmaster primary job should be working on the website, and only the website.. That's why I say he shouldn't be a developer. He needs to dedicate his time to the website, community and everything about the 'Face' of Sphereserver. An active dev doesn't have time to do both. Thats why I say we need someone in charge of the website, who has nothing to do with the actual development process. Wink

Now, I'm not saying take the devs out of the entire process, I just think the guy who's in charge of the website should be the only one actively working on the site and take input from the devs when needed. This doesn't mean that the devs won't have power/control on the site, it just means the main webmaster will control the layout, style, moderators, sections and features of the site unhindered.. The devs will just utilize the tools the webmaster gives them.

Sphereserver.net redirecting to menasoft is a very bad sign I think Sad That means they made the actual effort to setup a generic redirect to their main website and didn't even bother explaining what happened to Sphere. That's a sign they *really* don't care at all anymore what so ever. It's the same thing I do when I shut down a website, I redirect it to my main site, rayvolution.net just so it goes somewhere.

Honestly, if they gave 2 damns, they would redirect it to SphereCommunity instead, or give us the domain and we could move SphereCommunity over there..

Whats ironic is menasoft.com is also a dead website. Tongue

EDIT: Both sphereserver.com and .net don't expire until 2015.. so if we have any chance of taking back the domain, that's a long way off. Also, the stupid domain bots may get it first anyway, those little guys are sneaky Sad
