dont you think this is for open people as most of us feel the same way...?

No I don't... here it is high profile and gets people's clearly... it got your's.

The bottom line and my final word on this is.

This is a failure in the staff.
To have dropped the ball in such a way, leaving 1 busy yet still active dev working on the server. With limited ability to do things with the site and the wilie.
To have not "passed the torch" or at the very least replaced the inactive members of staff to increase productivity on the project.

It makes you all no better than Damian and Co who insisted on retaining control yet pulled down the old website without warning to the community as a whole. (Whether or not he did forward a backup to someone on the staff here I don't know)

To hold on to the reigns of this project, and to keep it closed yet have no time to do anything with it, even when Damian stated he was ok with it becoming open sourced (yes I know about this) shows nothing but a complete disregard for those who know and love the emulator.

Keeping sphere alive! Give me a break, only ben can make that claim and as you would have seen if any of you had the time to look, he is snowed under and calling out for help.

How long before he breaks and gives up?
The ball is in your court. Do something about it or when the project dies everyone will know where the blame lies.

Oh well, then you may know that Ben also denied going open source?
We can always hire more people and Ben knows that.

I always supported the open source idea and I never signed any contract or asked for it because as a volunteer I don't like to put my name in papers unless I'm getting paid for it, also the programming language of my preference is C# but for the good cause I can try it and join if Ben or Shiryux require me to do so.

At the moment I'm really busy and all my contributions and updates will be delayed for beginings of the next year. I'm sorry for that.

I suggest to close the thread, not because the reasons are wrong, but just because quarreling in this way doesn't bring any good thing.

RE: Where have all the Devs gone? - xantier - 12-06-2012 12:43 AM

i just laugh at this, i have spent many years for sphereserver, but i cannot do anything for it. just because of personal hate on me. i don't know what do you think sphereserver is but what you are trying to develop is something that so many server owners interested in. they completely depend on you and they can't do anything on possible bugs. the most ignorant developer staff ever, no offense. if you dont have time, you shouldn't be a developer.

I agree darksun but this time I will let this thread to die alone because I do not want anyone to believe that I am restricting their freedom of expression.

@xantier
There are not too many options out there. So it's better to have 2 or 3 inactive devs than 0. And btw, you can give your point of view but there is no need to insult others the way you do, adding a "no offense" at the end of the sentence will not fix it.

For example: You're a dumbass, no offense

Ignorant is not a affront...Not here in my country, and not in others country of the world... Ignorant it's ignorant.

If you ignore something, you are a ignorant.

And im not Xantier, just saying, neither a friend. I don't even know him but I will defend him here.

The options are cool. Run UO or Sphere. The others sucks and more than Sphere. But there's a strong border between RUN UO and SPHERE. Don't tell us and other people that like a excuse... We want to use this emulator, and because that, we are here...

RE: Where have all the Devs gone? - xantier - 12-06-2012 08:25 AM

it is an equal thing to have 2-3 inactive devs compared to 0. breaking other things while fixing something is into the bargain lol.

RE: Where have all the Devs gone? - Ben - 12-06-2012 04:39 PM

Just want to say, the wiki is fixed, so anyone with an account can continue to update it.

I'm out, see you all in the new year..

RE: Where have all the Devs gone? - admin phoenix - 12-06-2012 05:06 PM

I am pissed ot the dev which join the staff, works for 1 or 2 weeks on the source and then they are busy and out of time.
what the f....???
if you apply as a dev here you should know that you need time to develop.
for me it seems that they get the source code and then they say "afk for some time because I have a private life and so on".
maybe the mentality is sphere could only have 4 devs in their group and not more .... so at the moment it is impossible the get new devs because the inactive devs occupy the slots.
my opinion is ..inactive devs should leave the staff (and open the source too!!!)
