server terminated by error -3, not sure if it said more I can't remember for the life of me what those errors meant before, it's been too long. Although, I do remember some reason a server will not boot:

1. AGREE=1 was not set in sphere.ini
2. Corrupt /save/ files, be sure to have the files created and with an [eof] marker so sphere can read the files properly
3. Can not bind to you IP address, this happens because of firewall/router issues
4. Missing .dll of some sort or a specific system file such as sphere.ini or spherecrypt.ini
5. Missing a correct path to your .mul files, be sure to have sphere.ini modified correctly for these

There are a few more I left out but I'm pretty sure sphere tosses a descriptive error about it.

Simple: old school style, stable emulator, no custom systems.

untrue, do a search for the first player name there, u'll notice it's listed like 10+ times on their client list. lol.

Seek and you will find... http://forum.spherecommunity.net/sshare.php?srt=4&prj=2
I made this tool to simplify the installation process, this way you avoid common mistakes and won't get errors on the console. There is the video http://forum.spherecommunity.net/showthread.php?tid=1249

You will also note on alot of the runuo / pret2a / osi servers they allow upto 5 accounts logged in at one time.. This is very clear on IPY2 when it launched with 1k+ players
