RE: Community Projects - Khaos - 03-19-2012 04:58 AM @Valios; I didn't forget you. You need to actually be actively working on my server to get some props Not saying you will when VSCP and everything else is done. Though I do appreciate the input I do get from you, so yes... Valios and I brainstorm my server . There you go. (PS I keep double spacing in hopes I will get a period like the blackberry does.) @Mordaunt; we haven't given up. I don't know about open source. I have always been against it. It puts too many peoples hands in the pot to make errors. Look at SCP. I believe a lot was done in there besides upgrades that me and ShiryuX were not informed on, nor do we completely agree on. I personally am wondering about the stability of it. As I said, I create a backwards compatibility file for things I change. SCP is not designed with that it seems. Though when I started on "x" things with it, I tried to always create a backwards compatibility def script... We won't let this go down. Has anyone thought about downloading/transferring scripts from SShare to the downloads here? RE: Community Projects - Mordaunt - 03-19-2012 05:56 AM Well looks like Valios put mine up, however the .rar file shows as zero bytes and downloads faulty, so I'll go ahead and upload em. Cloud's pack also downloads as 0 bytes, you may want to look into it RE: Community Projects - Anarch Cassius - 03-23-2012 08:55 AM The trick with open source is that you keep very tight control of the main branch commits while letting everyone see it. Let people make their own branches, test it, and then ask to commit that code. Letting everyone see and play with it doesn't mean you let everyone alter the core version. I think a Sphere server server would be a great idea, but since we've never but an EA clone like RunUO we'd have to iron out mechanics. RE: Community Projects - dagger4k - 03-23-2012 04:40 PM if you need the cloud script pack I have it. I also might be able to post a few things to do with santiago / mythik / coldfire / darklands / Project blackrock / Cecils style shards. Some of the stuff isnt scripting at its finest but nonetheless it might encourage people to use sphere and or get inspiration. -- I wonder if you will get in trouble if the source code for sphere gets put up RE: Community Projects - Valios - 03-24-2012 04:53 AM I support the idea of going open source too but we're missing a "yes" from the project leaders. I remember that Damian posted on the old forums something like "Sphere isn't and will never be open source" then I guess we have to respect that. Welcome back to the family Cassius (03-23-2012 04:40 PM)dagger4k Wrote: -- I wonder if you will get in trouble if the source code for sphere gets put up Probably yes, why do you ask? You got it? RE: Community Projects - dagger4k - 03-24-2012 06:22 AM maybe RE: Community Projects - Khaos - 03-24-2012 07:40 AM Dagger4k doesn't have the code. I have the active list to who has access to the sphere svn. Don't fib. Fibbing can be a bad thing around here. We will not be going open source. Sorry. RE: Community Projects - dagger4k - 03-24-2012 09:34 AM I don't have the 56b source you could sent it too me if you want! RE: Community Projects - Khaos - 03-24-2012 02:41 PM LOL no way sir RE: Community Projects - dagger4k - 03-24-2012 06:48 PM haha yeah, i'm too newb at scripting etc. I didn't actually pursue the core IT side of things for my life, however was always an option.
