Issues setting up server please help!
Hi everyone, I'm new to the community but used to run a 51a server a good few years ago hehe. Hope your all well and having fun!

I've used the wonderful tool Vlauncher to help set the server files up correctly, the server boots fine few teleporter tile errors but im not worried about those.

I have downloaded Ultime Online Classic and the client is updated to version 7.0.27.7.

Now i have exhausted port forwarding, changing IP in the login file to a few different variations, setting sphere.ini to allow enncrypted and non encrypted clients. Every time i try and login local it comes up with this error.

"We were unable to authenticate your login. Usually this means that either a newer client patch is now available, or that the account name or passworrd you provided are incorrect. Please check you Caps Lock key and try reentering your account name and password. Please restart your client if you continue to receive this error. If this is a new aaccount your account may not be active yet, please try again shortly. If you continue to experience problems please contact customer support"

So hi support haha!

Sorry if this is a noob question it was alot easier to set up last time i did it Tongue

ps. i set up the admin account using vlauncher too, so can rule that out.

the only thing i can think of is i heard rumours the ip is encrypted in the new client but i thought id already sorted that changing the login?

either that or maybe client too new for server version? bearing in mind using .56b

thanks!! hope your all good

update spherecrypt.ini is updated to the correct client version with correct keys too

Oh BAH!

Twice I did this post and then saw you had already ruled out what I was asking lol

Are you logging in from the server machine? if so the IP should be 127.0.0.1,2593 and port forwarding wouldn't be an issue.
Also make sure that you have filled in the [EXTERNAL] IP if you are logging in from a different machine

Haha thanks for the reply.

I am logging in from the server machien with Loginserver=127.0.0.1,2593
also have set the external IP.

Im baffled to be honest lol.

I first thought the client was the issue but i'm not sure as other people must have this client working.

I've set up an administrator account but, it doesnt even seem to attempt to connect by the look of it just bounces straight to the error screen posted above.

I'm not even sure where to start diagnosing as im rusty with the mechanic of sphere. .51a was the last time i used it hehe

found that vlauncher hadnt set the paths up correctly in the sphere.ini file so updated those but still having the same issue. it doesnt even seem to attempt connection almost like and authetication error. I was hoping that linking the accounts file correctly would solve it but it doesnt seem to have worked

Turns out the client was the issue downloaded an older version of UO and had no problems running client 6.0.14.3 works absolutely fine Smile

I'm patched to 7.0.27.5 and honestly I'm not taking it any further, it works fine. You may discover some hole sin the map with an older client running on a higher patched game, I know I did

Just a few tips, if you have a router at home and need to get around your ip address, set 'serv.servip' to your external ip address in [function f_onserver_start] in sphere_serv_triggers.scp. You can get your external ip address in windows by accessing your Network Place or by visiting this webpage http://www.whatismyip.com There is no need to set your external IP in sphere.ini by doing this in sphere_serv_triggers.scp. Also, make sure you unblock port 2593, or whichever you have specified in sphere.ini by accessing your router. These 2 things must be done in order to run sphereserver on your machine through a router. Here's an example of sphere.ini:
Code:
[SERVERS]
Server Name
127.0.0.1
2593
And an example of your function in sphere_serv_triggers.scp:
Code:
[function f_onserver_start]
serv.servip=255.255.255.255

Confirming something broke after 7.0.27.5, I'm getting the same thing. Sphere responds as webserver just fine though.

This is the actual issue.

I have managed to login with 7.0.27.9 by adding: 127.0.0.1 login.ultimaonline.com to my host file and changing my server port to 7776.

So it looks like someone will have to create a client launcher for classic client too.
