Well, decided to take a trip down nostalgia lane and see what the old TUS/Greyworld/Sphere community is up to. Or at least who is left. I imagine there are some hardcore diehards here.

If you are here and reading this, thank you! I appreciate you taking the time. Post up here and say hello, etc. I've run multiple shards and was involved heavily with the scripting scene at some point. Had all the scripts overhauled, custom map, you know, the usual stuff.

Obviously I'm on to new things, and actually decided to work on my own project. Having a great time with it and it's system agnostic, meaning that you play the game through your web browser. Just a traditional text based styled RPG experience.

That's what I miss about the community in general, was the collaboration and learning of the scripts to do some pretty awesome stuff with the engine. I'm glad to see that there is a 64-bit version. What happened to those projects where people were trying to create their own client to log in to a Sphereserver?

Anyways, I'm really curious as to see if anyone here left remembers me. Don't be offended if I don't remember.

I used to dig around here a long time ago after sphere first started, maybe twelve then, so twenty-one/two years now?

I definitely remember when I figured out how to do the moongate menu. Or John did, and he showed me how.

Anyway, I was reminiscing about these times, and I couldn't help to think why I never thought of this then, and why I'm only thinking of this now.

Now that I'm going back through these, to me, almost ancient documents, I was wondering this question for those who haven't strayed, or have been in a while:

Does any feel like a pirate, at times?

Its been some years, but UO is like your favorite vacation spot.. you just have to come back every few years.

I hope there are still a few familiar faces around, last time I was here you guys were a huge help for me, I ran the Northern Lights shard, and now I am back, wanting to setup a new shard, not hoping to attract any large playerbase, if any at all... to be honest, I just want to play UO, and I want to be able to do it the way I like

So, for whatever reason, I was thinking about the past, about GW, TUS, Sphere, etc. I guess I was just playing some computer games and recently I've built a kick ass gaming rig, so my thoughts have lead me here.

Who's all still kicking around? Anyone recognize my name? I ran a few decent servers, had around 50-100 players and a small community who stuck through the changes. Had a Grayworld server which was basically same as official UO. Transitioned to a TUS server. Then to Sphere. Dabbled with POL, UOX, etc. Even played with the MUL editing tools and what not. Then of course, real life happens and so I disappear into oblivion, maybe to re-emerge a couple times, but again, into oblivion.

I browsed through the forums here, and yeah, they are what they are. Now what is the reason I came to cruise these forums? Just wanted to see if this place still is here and what's going on with it. I haven't really looked at UO, I'm not even sure if it still is running. A quick search online will yield a result which I'll do after this post. Anyone out there still running a server? What sort of client numbers are you folks running with? Does this stuff run on Windows 10?

The reality is if anyone on here remembers me, then amazing. I don't expect anyone to. I might even expect to get a crummy response. We'll see.

Seriously a huge THANKS goes out to all the members of the sphere team!

I was one of those teenagers in the 90's with the old 56k modems that completely bogged down my parent telephone line every night to play UO (back before T2A was added).
Some time later I stopped playing UO only to come back a few years later and got into Fuze (I think that was it's name) emulator for UO that I downloaded from someone's bulletin board.

Once again Thank you to all the staff/members of the sphere team for their hard work!

Hosting 100 clients

Hi guys. I dont know so much about pc specs and sphere required specs for hosting, so i'm thinking to buying pc to host my server for possible 100 clients + - And pc specs are --->

Procesors: AMD Athlon 440 3x3100Mhz
Ram: 8 Gb ddr3 1333Mhz
HDD: 250GB 7200rpm
PSU: 300w
Video: integrated AMD Radeon 3000
Gigabit lan, 6 channel audio.

could this pc hold 100 clients or i need better one ? And internet connection is 20 Mbit/s

Hello,

I have a problem with my little rumspielerei ...
I have sphere 55i, which is also great and I can play with my laptop on it.
But now I wanted to like other synonymous with outside of this server, since the problems began ...
I have configured my computer as follows:

The port 2593 I have released or forwarded (at least I believe that)

In the sphere.ini I have with SERVIP = the network IP of the computer entered (with the IP with which my rout goes into the net I get an error message of sphere at the start)

Does someone have an idea how I could do that?

Integrity in the Sphere community?

I'm not sure what kind of response this will get, if any at all, or even if this is the right place to post it. I'm Jack and have been running an OSI replica T2A shard for over 2 years. As of late, I've been becoming annoyed as our website design, which has had a LOT of work put into it, has now been blatantly ripped off/stolen by 3 seperate shards. The reason I'm posting this here is that all 3 of these shards have been Sphere shards.

These 3 shards have stolen our website design, without permission, when it is clearly marked copyright at the bottom:

http://www.dragonsoftime.com/ <-- also felt the need to post on our in game bulletin board advertising their shard, as if stealing our hard work was not a big enough of a "fuck you" to us.

The third shard which stole our website design, which was the first to do it, appears to now have shut down.

Does anyone in the Sphere community even care that this kind of business is being conducted by these shards? Even worse is that these shards operate on a profit model with no compensation to us (not that I would even accept said compensation, as our website is not for sale and our shard is not for profit).

In a community that is losing players over time, it is not a good thing that content is being stolen from original creators, as you may find that the people creating that content just leave the community and further kills our already shrinking community. This is complete scumbag behaviour.
