YOU prefer shards where it isnt allowed, and if you were the only one playing on it then that would be completely relevant, however if you plan to admin a shard for other people to play on, then for it to be successful the wants and needs of your player base should out weigh your own, otherwise you will be the only one playing your shard, and if it isnt about the wants and needs of your player base, then i dont see why you should bother in the first place tbh

when i left the UO scene back years ago, i started another project for another game, so far i have had it up and running and have been in the top 3 servers for over 4 years now with 1000+ players on daily, the key to that servers success lies in putting my opinions, wants, and needs to the side, and instead focus on what my player base wants and needs, there are elements in that game that I PREFER, however the majority of my player base does not share my preferences, at the end of the day, its really not about you or your preferences at all, its about them and theirs

i have seen servers from this other game come and go, dozens upon dozens over the years, and they all fail, becus they fail to realize that one key point, they want the server their way, according to how they play, and what they like, however just becus they play a certain way, and like things a certain way, does not mean the majority of the players who play that game do, and therefore they put tons and tons of work into the server (believe me when i say tons, there is no emulator, you have to update the game using ollydbg both server exe and client exe, not easy) and at the end of the week they have 4 players, 4 players whom share their preferences in game play and their opinion on how it should be, and when the server fails, those 4 players go back to playing a server that people actually enjoy playing on, becus even those 4 players would rather put their preferences aside in order to play with a 1000+ online daily server

it may seem like u are trying to preach evolution to a religious man, but both religion and evolution are merely theories, i speak from hands on experience and theory will never beat out reality
