Need map making advice.
Hello.
I need some advice on creating maps.
Im not sure what programs I should choose to use. I see alot of them and even tested a few. (Dragon mod 9+11, Genesis 2.) But ran into major problems with those 3.

exp. DM11 made some really ugly looking coasts(North west coats were jagged) and Genesis 2 had alot of transition problems.

I really liked Genesis 2, and would of really liked it to work. But I couldn't find much support and info about it other than the download locations.

I understand centred is really good, but from my understanding its not for building an entire map. Rather just adding detail.

So my question is what programs do you guys recommend for building an entire map?

Im using client 7.0.10.3 (.mul)

-EDIT
Could centred be using to repair the jagged north west coast lines made by Dragon mod? If so I may just stick to dragon mod.

RE: Need map making advice.
Tested Mapgenerator 2.0 and it does a better job with transitions. Grass looks great when used next to water, but I still get jagged north west coast lines when using "beach".
(Grass worked, Beach did not)

Gonna test with sand, rough sand and desert and see if they come out better when next to water. Since they look just like beach minus the random props.
If I can't get them to work I guess ill just avoid using anything other than grass on the north west coasts =P.

Another thing, Mapgen takes about 35 minutes to generate the file, where as Dragon and Genesis took about 10 seconds =P. Small price to play for better quality I guess.

EDIT: Alright, everything working perfect now Big Grin
Got rid of the sharp edge beach coasts by placing the sand tiles 1-2 pixels before the water. (Beach > Sand > Water)

Anyways, I got 2 questions.
On the Altitude color table I see 4 color shades. Blue, green, gray, purple. Each color repeats the same altitude numbers. I tested with mixed colors and with only gray shade. Didn't see a difference and want to confirm if it don't matter what colors I use.

2nd question
In the terrain color table I see "Embank" colors.
Grass Embank
Sand Embank
ect..
What are they used for?

Altitude colors are : Blue for water zones, green terrain zones(grass, sand, swamp, etc),gray mountain zone, purple : all other zones(dungeon part, etc)
