Sphere server translation - Vigo - 08-18-2013 05:01 AM

Probably an admin will move this topic to a more suitable place.

I am searching for a sphere server translation.

I remember that an older version of sphere (0.51? 0.52? 0.55?) had been translated into several languages. This was mainly local arrangements I believe.
But I had found in 2009 a site with all these translations available to download. Unfortunately, today I cannot find it anymore.
Maybe one of you knows what I am talking about.

One of the reasons I prefer sphere over other emulators is that the player has to talk with the NPC, instead of just clicking on a button. Unfortunately, this is only available in English.

You can rewrite scripts and using Cliloc

you could also rewrite the npc speech scripts to accept any word, in any language i believe.

I don't know if you realise, but translating takes time and there are many scripts!
Anyway, I found my file, but the link dates back from 2002.

http://apo.alliance.free.fr/Sphere (francais) FULL.zip

I post it so that I don't loose the link (I don't know whether I can post any link here, I rely on a very kind admin to edit my post if necessary).
I don't know for how long it will stillbe there.

I like the way players have to interact with NPCs in Sphere. That's more friendly than the menu we can find with other emulators. However, you start a rp dialog with a npc, you tell him "acheter" "comprar" "kaufen" and the guy answers you "I am sorry, I don't understand". That's a pity.
It would be a great improvement to sphere if dialog scripts where available in local languages (it seems most have not changed since 2000).

I know that a website had collected all the translated 55i (as the above is 55i) versions of sphere. I think french, german and italian at least were available.

There is no more work to do than finding the already translated versions on the internet. The French version is in the link above (it needs to be checked though).

55i - a lot functions missing. I don't know what is difference with normal 55i emulator, but in script just translated names and speech to Franch. You can do it with any emulator and for multi languages better using cliloc.
