Yes there are some, but why would you use them? You end up with a world that is spawned identically to how anyone else using it has...

Precisely why I made my spawner it handles any of the maps, even a custom map and saves me running around like a loon for longer than necessary. (true it doesn't do towns or dungeons....yet)

thanks guys, little quick one does this look ok
// To activate ML-sized map #0 uncomment the next line (don't forget to uncomment
// sphere_map0_ml.scp and sphere_map_points0_ml.scp in spheretables.scp if you want
// to use the default areas)
Map0=7168,4096,-1,-1

// To activate ML-sized map #1 uncomment the next line
Map1=7168,4096,-1,-1
MAP2=2304,1600,32,2,2
MAP3=2560,2048,32,3,3
MAP4=1448,1448,8,4,4
MAP5=1280,4096,64,5,5

// To enable the use of MapDif*.mul and StaDif*.mul files, set this to 1.
UseMapDiffs=1

----------------------------------
Do i need Usemapsdiff set to 1?
Also map0 and map1 are the same do i need either or?

map0 is felucca, map1 is trammel

They are "geographically" almost the same, the main difference is that map0 still has the old Ocllo island while map1 replaces Ocllo with Haven (the newbie island). So map0 is the classic map.

If you use Stygian Abyss, map1 also contain the main entrance to Map5(the Stygian Abyss)

Also i think that in map1 there are also the Faction strongholds of Minax etc.

About the diff file, my theory is that they were used by OSI for quickly inserting "periodic events" like "Xmas in Britannia ,Halloween in Britannia" etc etc in game .

OSI/EA uses map diffs for many things... mostly for fixing issues with the landscape between major releases. In the 7 client, they used it extensively to recreate magincia island after it was blown to pieces in one of their big ongoing campaigns.

If you turn it on, you get their changes, if you turn it off you don't... but unless your players and your server have the identical mul/uop files turning it on or off is going to cause issues of one kind or another. some people get stuck, other wont, some people will have glass walls and see things that others don't etc.
