55i to 56b - rafaelvolpeti - 03-27-2013 11:39 PM

Hi Buddies,

i have my old shard running at sphere 55i.

I decided to work in it again.
I tryed to start this with sphere56b and a lot of errors are displayed at console.
I know the sphere releases changed a lot, so, i search at the web for more suggestions about that.

The errors displayed at console are something like this:

09:53:ERROR:(spherepoints.scp,33)Unsupported map #255 specified. Auto-fixing that to 0.
ERROR:(spherechars.scp,910450)Invalid WORLDITEM block index 'i_scroll_teleport'

In the web, a lot of peoples sayed this happens because im running a new version of sphere with old scripts.

So, any suggestions how i can fix that?
Exists some feature to convert old scripts?

Thanks in Advance,

Regards,

Rafael

You need to manually merge some core scripts from the new system into your existing system... there is no program or feature that will ever be able to do that. Lets all work together to come up with a list of things that are certain to need consideration. Off the top of my head, here are the easy ones:

Sphere.ini has a LOT of changes.

SphereCrypt.ini has quite a few changes.

sphere_defs.scp has a LOT of changes... both new values on existing definitions, and new definitions entirely.

sphere_spells.scp has some changes... new FLAGS are necessary on quite a few of the spells.

sphere_msgs.scp probably has new entries.

sphere_newb.scp is likely to be different.

sphere_types.scp probably has new stuff that came with the AOS expansion.

sphere_serv_triggers.scp has a bunch of new triggers.

sphere_skills.scp has a bunch of new skills.

sphere_tables.scp has some differences relating to notoriety.

The entire stones directory is new (guildstones and townstones etc)

Hundreds of new items... most importantly, changes to multi items like houses and boats.

Also all those old 55i extra items that were defined with numbers likely have to be converted to names.

Lots of new maps, and the existing maps 0 and 1 are bigger now so you probably have to merge the maps and map points to get to all the areas.
