I sent the following email. I'm just curious what their response will be any predictions?

Dear Ultima Online Support,
I'm contacting you in hopes of having permission granted in attempt to setup my own private Ultima Online Server.
I played when I was much younger and it was the best years of my life, now that I am older and want to become a programmer and make other
feel as amazing as I did. I think creating my own shard would give me the opportunity to gain some experience and learn more about the game that will
go down in memory as my all time favorite game.

"You will not create, use, play on or provide any server emulator or other service where Ultima Online may be played. You will not post, use or distribute any utilities, applications, emulators or other software tools related to Ultima Online that do not have the express written permission of Electronic Arts to be used with the Service. I was disappointed. I don't have any intentions of making money off of my server only to make some of my ideas and stories come to reality
and learning some programming along the way.
I really hope you consider my request.

Why in the world would you ever do that???
There are hundreds if not thousands of "private" UO servers out there, EA is well aware of them. It's hard to stamp them out really and would likely cost them more than it is worth to do so.
Provided you are not charging a monthly fee for people to play on your server EA tends to turn a blind eye.
Now the question is, when the reply comes back requesting you to NOT open a private server but to play on their own, as I am sure it will, what will you do?
Will you honor their request or carry on as you would have anyway?

This was their response, I'm considering pressing for more information on who I could contact and plead a case to and perhaps see if in the near future they plan on revising their Rules of Conduct.

Unfortunately you are correct that is indeed illegal to create your own Ultima Online server. As you've already stated in your email this is directly against the Rules of Conduct and we cannot give you permission to work around them.
I'm sorry that I didn't have better news for you and hope it doesn't stain any of your fond memories of Ultima Online.
