Seasoned shard experience needed! - oONautilusOo - 01-29-2013 03:48 AM

Hi again Big Grin!!

I'm currently looking at building in several different new area's to the uo world, ie event arewas, arena's etc. Some of these i plan to be quite large almost osi dungeon size.

My question is, i know i can build the places ingame but is there a map editor or tool/utility that allows for faster addition of new map content?

(manual build) I'm slightly worried that all the statics and players fighting mobs and effects going off in the area may cause some lag issues to some people. is this still an issue in the day and age as it used to be in 51a 55i times?

(map editor) is this even possible if so would it reduce the above risk.

Thanks in advance

Centred is the tool for you, it's in the download section.

thank you darksun84 Smile much appreciated gonna have some fun with that tonight then hehe!

Any tips on using or setting this promising tool up? im looking for a guide and it doesnt seem to be surfacing via google unfortunately! im guessing u can only use CentrED server with the client. but how would i go about configuring the server etc.

Sorry if noob question i am literally starting from scratch, dedicating 4 hours a day minimum to improving my future server! i will one day hopefully have some tools and scripts everyone can use also Smile

Centred comes with two files : server and client.

First time you start to server, you have to put the various path of your ultima online's files, later the size of the map you want to modify(you can edit only one map at time). Then you can connect to the client, most common error is giving the wrong map size

Thanks i managed to configure things the way i thought was correct. i even used http://redmine.aksdb.de/projects/centred/wiki/Map to find out the correct map sizes. but once i enter the Admin and hidden password in it instantly shuts down?

bit odd. all items were pathed to d:\Ultima Online

configuring network bit says Port (2597): i typed 2593 as my port here

am i doing somethign wrong?

you have to write the "full path", so d:\ultima online\map0.mul etc etc.

Probably, now you have a .xml file on the ced server application, you can edit the path directly from there

awesome i will try this now. thanks darksun

I have got everything set up as it should be. Ced server boots fine and says done and closes down.

i try to connect to port 2597 local host which the server file is also configured too. when i do so it keeps coming up with connection refused?

tried everything i can think of bit confused now!

update its down to the map size even though its the recommended ones on the internet will have to research some more. managed to catch a screen shot with printscreen the split second it was visible lol
