Also on a different note, incase you were unaware WLM is dead and all accounts are being ported to Skype by Microsoft

RE: sooo... - Ultima One - 02-09-2013 10:36 AM

If you want to use 2.0.3, it will only work when you have 'installed' the game. I think 6.x should work with 2.0.3 fine.

If you download an extracted version of the game, 2.0.3 will say its not installed - I guess 2.0.3 looks for registry keys - I have this problem with some players, we offer an extracted game for them to download, but those using 2.0.3 had to install the game the right way.

oh man, how the world has changed!!! I greatly appreciate you guys bringing me up to speed.

WLM still connected but I just switched over to Skype and I see what you mean with them merging everything over..

Ben, before i forget, i want to personally thank you for continuing the Sphere efforts and for the rest of the team who is still active.. its great to see the wheels still turning here.

Charm, I tried 2 different UO installs and both tell me that now... One of them brought me to a 6.x client but it was still missing something because 2.0.3 did not work. When you say you need install the game the right way, do you mean it has to be from a CD?

RE: sooo... - Mulambo - 02-09-2013 11:07 AM

for older clients u can just add stuff in registry (tested on 2.0.0 and 1.26.4)

Code:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online\1.0]
"ExePath"="c:\\Games\\Ultima Online\\client.exe"
"InstCDPath"="c:\\Games\\Ultima Online"
"PatchExePath"="c:\\Games\\Ultima Online\\uopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="c:\\Games\\Ultima Online\\uo.exe"
"Upgraded"="Yes"

just change path to your files and it should do the trick

RE: sooo... - BladeCraft - 02-09-2013 11:12 AM

my next stupid question - where/how do i change the registry?

I'm kind of excited to start getting things up and running again so thanks to everyone for the help

RE: sooo... - Mulambo - 02-09-2013 11:21 AM

create file anynameyouwant.reg, put text above into that file, save and execute it (windows only)

AH, ive never edited the computers registry like this before... i just want to make sure i understand what im doing before i pull the trigger on this...

Quote:REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online] <--- need to be edited?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online] <--- need to be edited?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online\1.0] <--- do i need to edit the 1.0 to the client #.#?
"ExePath"="C:\Program Files\Ultima Online\client.exe" <--- edited the path
"InstCDPath"="C:\Program Files\Ultima Online\" <--- edited the path
"PatchExePath"="C:\Program Files\Ultima Online\uopatch.exe" <--- edited the path
"StartExePath"="C:\Program Files\Ultima Online\uo.exe" <--- edited the path
"Upgraded"="Yes"

RE: sooo... - Mulambo - 02-09-2013 12:06 PM

you only need to edit those 4 paths, but keep double backslashes in there.
Those options are the way that Origin used in older instalation (t2a) and client looks for those settings

Code:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Origin Worlds Online\Ultima Online\1.0]
"ExePath"="c:\\Program Files\\Ultima Online\\client.exe"
"InstCDPath"="c:\\Program Files\\Ultima Online"
"PatchExePath"="c:\\Program Files\\Ultima Online\\uopatch.exe"
"StartExePath"="c:\\Program Files\\Ultima Online\\uo.exe"
"Upgraded"="Yes"

Worked perfectly, thank you!! I wonder how many shards are going to need to include something like this in their patch now.

Thanks again to all.. hopefully i can get back into some of this stuff if i can find a way to balance my time. Im already looking at ways to relaunch my shard for those few that still play it.. im thinking my custom map is becoming more of a barrier for new players than a unique feature since no one is there to show them around..

I think I hear the scripting wheels in my mind start to screech as they begin turning again
