Anyone uses linux builds on a live shard? Are they stable as windows builds? Im thinking about to rent more powerful server since linux virtual machines are cheaper (licence of windows machines adding 10-15$ to price).

I'm. I think, yes. But you need to test this, it may depend from build, scripts, network settings, online. I'm using 2011 year linux build and I had sphere crash two month ago and it seems, than it was related with db server. Peak online 30-50.
