many wiki's (including mine and sphereserver wiki) always had many spam accounts created just to spam crap ads like "enlargement pills", "donate money", etc

also sphere wiki closed the account registration because this. But there's a fix for this, this thing will prevent these spam accounts to be created:

to install just download the extension, copy-paste it on /extensions folder and add this code at the end of LocalSettings.php:

and create an account on http://www.keycaptcha.com to get these keys

here on my wiki i'm using keycaptcha and it blocks 100% of these spam accounts
