I was just reading that very post.
I can't say that I have any experience with such a thing.

However what I would suggest if you are unable to access your server from work (and who is) is that you install teamviewer on your computer when you get home, and then assuming you have a smart phone, install the team viewer app onto your phone. That way you would be able to access your machine restart your server should it hang and not restart.
