parrying only call skillgain when the attack got parried, which can only happens if you're wearing an weapon or shield (shields have more chance to parry attacks so it will gain skill faster)

anyway, try also update to latest 56d build, yesterday I fixed an old problem where char SKILLSUM was blocking skillgain on skills, assuming that the char had reached the SKILLSUM (skillcap) limit even when the limit was not reached yet

skillgain for parrying not work on latest builds
CombatEra in .ini is PreAoS
