Adding New Monsters? - GendR - 02-09-2017 11:51 AM

so I've added the VD files using MulPatcher and I'm a bit confused...

I've added a smaller version of a giant scorpion, it is

H: 0x99 (153)

when I try to create a monster in sphere_monsters and I use CHARDEF 099 it spawns a Ghoul, anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Try using UO Fiddler to see if you successfully added your new monster, and if not I suggest using fiddler to add monsters, it's a lot easy than mulpatcher in my opinion.

Just make sure you set the correct mul paths under settings.

I believe it adds them correctly if I overwrite an existing monster but when I try to use the Unfilled slots I don't think it is?

Where would I find those in UOFiddler if they added correctly?

also is there any way to change the .vd to be H,L or P? Not quite sure what identifies the animation as H,L,P...

I've always overwritten existing slots because I've never gotten the empty ones to work. You can add your monster to anim1,anim2,anim3,anim4, etc to an existing slot, there are tons of ugly monsters you can overwrite unless you figure out how to use the empty slots.

You can find them under "Animations". To edit, click "settings" at the bottom of the screen and then click "Animation edit".

I have no idea what identifies them as H or L. I simply just overwrote a monster that I know i'm never going to use and edited that chardef to my new monster.

I think that H, L, P stands for the number of animation frames the creature has.

Anyway, if you want to add a new creature in an empty slot, you have also to add an entry in the following files:

mobtypes.txt //100% Sure
bodyconv.def
corpse.def //Not sure about this

These files are in the ultima online folder
